David Ortiz really impressed by 'scary' Aaron Judge

"I just retired", he said.

Ortiz has consciously stayed away from Fenway Park this season to let the team develop a new identity in the post-Big Papi era.

The appearance comes in the wake of a recent interview in which Ortiz hinted at the possibility of a NY conspiracy against the former Red Sox slugger.

"To be honest with you, the strike zone for a guy his height, that's why I say, that's why I believe he's so good and he's going to get better because when you are that tall, the strike zone is bigger", Ortiz added. "I'm like that. One of these days I'll show up".

Even in retirement, David Ortiz has taken notice of Aaron Judge. "I don't want to be bothering anybody". "I don't want to be in anybody's way". Hanley (Ramirez) is going to start hitting homers.

Yankees fans have seen young phenoms come and go. At some point, it's going to happen.

The other familiar face next weekend is the one of former NESN play-by-play Don Orsillo who is slated to be in the FOX national broadcast booth for the Red Sox vs Astros on June 17th. Ortiz was also named to 10 American League All-Star teams during his Boston tenure and clubbed his 500th career home run for the club in 2015.

Ortiz greeted Yankees rookie phenom Aaron Judge at a charity event on Monday, so the Yankees chose to have a little fun with a photo of the two on the team's official Instagram page on Tuesday.

So for now, Ortiz remains an ex-major leaguer as the second-place Red Sox begin a three-game series in NY against the AL East-leading Yankees tonight.

The event in question was the "All-Stars of New York" charity bowling tournament, founded by Yankees pitcher C.C. Sabathia to benefit his non-profit organization known as the PitCCh Foundation.
