Jury questions posed during Bill Cosby's sex assault trial

Bill Cosby faces retrial on sexual assault charges

The judge in the sexual assault case of comedian Bill Cosby has declared a mistrial. The jury deliberated more than 52 hours over six days before telling a judge they couldn't agree on whether "The Cosby Show" star sexually violated Temple University employee Andrea Constand after giving her pills that left her woozy and unable to say no or fight back. Only one was allowed to testify in the Constand case. Cosby has denied all their claims.

On Thursday, after more than 30 hours of deliberations, the members of the jury told the judge they were deadlocked and could not reach a unanimous consensus. Constand, now 44, initially went to police about a year after she said Cosby assaulted her, but a prosecutor declared her case too weak to bring charges.

Cosby will remain free on $1 million bail.

When asked about Cosby's statement during a press conference, Montgomery County, PA District Attorney Kevin Steele responded, "I'm not going to talk about Camille Cosby". "We wanted an acquittal, but like the Rolling Stones song says, you can't always get what you want; sometimes you get what you need".

But that wasn't what made the biggest news in the aftermath of the mistrial - the story centered on Bill Cosby's wife Camille.

The full context of the portion of Cosby's decade-old testimony in which he said he told Constand the pills he gave her, before their 2004 sexual encounter, were "friends". Heinously and exploitatively ambitious.

Prosecutors get four months to decide whether they want to retry Cosby or drop the charges. "If the case is retried, know that I will once again put them to the test". Green, who says Cosby sexually assaulted her in 1970, filed a suit in December 2014. She did not comment publicly. She also attacked the judge, the accuser's lawyers, and the media.

From the moment she revealed what had happened to her, Andrea sought to have this matter addressed in the criminal justice system. She said she plans to appeal the decision.

In a written statement, Troiani thanked prosecutors for raising awareness "that one of the hallmarks of drug-related sexual assaults is the effect the drug has on the victim's memory and ability to recall and were nonetheless willing to present this evidence to the jury".

Meanwhile, Constand's attorneys are "confident that these proceedings have given a voice to the many victims who felt powerless and silenced", they said in a statement. With words like "heinous" and "exploitive" and "totally unethical" peppering her statement, Camille is being called hypocritical for using such words against others, including the media. She said she found Cosby at the bottom of the stairs; he gave her a muffin before opening the door and letting her out. Said Allred: "We can never underestimate the blinding power of celebrity, but justice will come".

Camille Cosby is now receiving plenty of backlash on Twitter after the wife of Bill Cosby had her statement posted to Bill's Twitter account in the wake of his mistrial.

"Bill Cosby has already been exposed as a predator who hid behind his jovial mask for more than 50 years and no jury verdict will ever change that", she posted on Facebook.

Dunham's colleague, "Girls" director and filmmaker Richard Shepard, tweeted a photo of the New York Magazine cover featuring several of Cosby's accusers. McMonagle, in his closing argument, pointed out that Constand telephoned Cosby dozens of times after the alleged assault.
