Trump disputes Russian interference in 2016 election

Former Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson told a congressional panel yesterday that there was a delay between the time the Federal Bureau of Investigation first made contact with the Democratic National Committee about Russian Federation hacking its servers and the time he was notified at the Department of Homeland Security. "In addition to the threat to the vote we were also very concerned about the public confidence in the integrity of the electoral system", Ferrante said.

Trump's tweets came shortly after former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) suggested on "Fox and Friends" that the Trump administration should blame Russian interference in the Obama administration. Johnson did not say that, and no investigation has been completed, so there's no reason he would have.

As Korrespondent.net reported, on January 6, the US Intelligence published a report accusing Russian Federation of involvement in hacker attacks to interfere in presidential elections.

The Democratic National Committee issued a statement labeling the tweetstorm an attempt to "distract" from the Senate GOP's health care bill, which was released shortly after.

Johnson says he moved to designate US elections as critical infrastructure on the same day as the release of a declassified USA intelligence report that said Russian President Vladimir Putin "ordered" an influence campaign in 2016 aimed at the US presidential election.

And just minutes before his Principal Deputy Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders was set to take the podium Thursday for an off-camera briefing with reporters, Trump tweeted about the "tapes" he tweeted about over 40 days earlier when he raised questions about whether he had recordings of his conversations with then-FBI director James Comes.

"For Jeh Johnson to say the Russians had successfully done something, he had to say he failed as Homeland Security chief", he said. One last shot at me.

Possible fixes could be grants to state election officials to help improve cyber-security and raising awareness about "the evils and hazards of spear-phishing", Johnson said.

No secretaries of state - who are responsible for elections in each state - have been cleared to receive classified details of the Russian hacking operation, said Connie Lawson, secretary of state in IN and president-elect of the National Association of Secretaries of State.

Trump, frequently lashes out at the Russian Federation investigation as a "witch-hunt" spearheaded by Democrats.

Special counsel Robert Mueller has finished his meeting with leaders of the Senate Judiciary Committee in a secure room in the Capitol.

"If we needed more assistance, we would have asked for it", Dean said.

Trump also tweeted that a former Homeland Security adviser denied collusion with the Russians.

In addition to scanning voting systems for vulnerabilities, Russian hackers acquired and engineered the release of emails from the Democratic National Committee and Hillary Clinton's campaign chairman, John Podesta, according to USA intelligence committees.

"In one case, investigators found there had been a manipulation of voter data in a county database but the alterations were discovered and rectified", sources told the magazine. I would raise awareness among state election officials as well as, you know, public in general, employees of state governments, raise awareness about the evils and the hazards of spear phishing.

"By the way, if Russian Federation was working so hard on the 2016 Election, it all took place during the Obama Admin".

Johnson's decision triggered an outcry from state and federal election organization officials.
