OJ Simpson has been granted release from prison

Former District Attorney who prosecuted O.J. Simpson robbery case speaks ahead of parole hearing KTNV

Sitting before the board to make his case, Simpson, 70, apologised and promised he'd have no conflicts if released. "I wish this would have never happened", Simpson said. He also repeatedly apologized for his role in the crime.

"I'm sorry. Thank you", were his final words to the board before they closed the hearing.

He was convicted in 2008 exactly 13 years after he was cleared of killing Nicole Brown Simpson, his former wife and her friend Ron Goldman. Simpson is serving a nine to 33 year prison term for a 2007 armed robbery and kidnapping conviction.

Simpson and five accomplices held two men at gunpoint in a confrontation over sports memorabilia and personal items, which Simpson claimed had been stolen from him.

In a press conference following the hearing, a representative for the board explained the parole decision was based on Simpson's good behavior in jail, his participation in constructive programs, and the support of one of the robbery victims, Bruce Fromong, who testified on Simpson's behalf. I said, 'Of course I would like to get the property'. "I've missed a lot of time with those kids".

Former US football star and actor OJ Simpson has been granted parole after nine years in a Nevada prison.

"I've done my time, I've done it as well and respectfully- I believe in the jury system.I've not complained in 9 years".

Simpson called the situation a "perfect storm" in his parole hearing Thursday.

Simpson also explained that he had taken some steps to rehabilitate himself in prison, including an "alternatives to violence" class.

The Nevada Board of Parole Commissioners voted to grant O.J.

"Right now, I am at a point in my life where all I want to do is spend as much time as I can with my children and my friends", Simpson said.

"We just want him to come home", Arnelle Simpson said.

The robbery victim, Bruce Fromong, called OJ "a good man", who "made a mistake", during the hearing, nearly guaranteeing he'd be set free.

"Mr. Simpson explained his criminal conduct that was before the board in this case at one point saying he was upset, he wanted to get his family photos back".
