Diego Costa claims Chelsea team-mates still back him despite Antonio Conte's verdict

Alvaro Morata: This is why I left Real Madrid to join Chelsea in the English Premier League

Costa looks set to leave Chelsea this summer as he remains on holiday in his home town of Lagarto in Brazil, having been fined around £300,000 - or two weeks' wages - for refusing to return to Stamford Bridge after a breakdown in his relationship with Antonio Conte.

The Brazilian-born Spain worldwide, who joined Chelsea from Atletico Madrid in 2014, said if the club did not allow him to move before the transfer window he was prepared to see out his contract unpaid in Brazil.

Premier league champions Chelsea has given stay-away striker Diego Costa an ultimatum to return to England and make himself available for selection.

Joey Barton is renowned for his controversial views on the game, and his latest opinion regarding the future of Diego Costa will do little to dispel that notion, after he told talkSPORT that both Merseyside clubs should go all out to sign the Chelsea man. Costa was a spectacular guy when I played with him is a fighter who always leaves everything on the pitch.

Chelsea do not have a reserve team, only age-group sides, and Costa has been given no indication that he would be expected to train with them, Press Association Sport understands.

"I don't know where somewhere along the line, that has gone out of the window with players".

'In Italy I learned a lot as a defender from a tactical point of view and I have to say a big thank-you to the people at Roma who helped me develop and achieve the move to Chelsea.

He won the league with the club in his first season, scoring 21 goals in the process.

"My desire is to go to Atletico (where he played from 2010-14)". They send messages saying "I miss you" and that they love me.

Writing in his column for Chelsea's official website, the former Chelsea winger says Conte would have done well to bring Morata on at half time rather than waiting until the hour mark.

Costa now has two years remaining on the five-year deal he signed when he joined Chelsea back in 2014.

Speaking on Match of the Day, Shearer said: "The first thing he did [when he came on] was ask questions of the back four".
