Inflation

As expected, Sri Lanka have recalled Lahiru Thirimanne, the experienced left-hand batsman, and Lakshan Sandakan, the left-arm wrist spinner, in a 16-man squad for the second Test against India starting at the SSC ground on Thursday (August 3).

The host skipper had missed the first Test as he was recuperating from pneumonia.

The Sri Lankan Cricket announced the squad for the second Test of the series against India.

He will be joined by batsman Lahiru Thirimanne, who last played a Test in June a year ago.

Thirimanne has played 26 Tests so far, scoring 1056 runs with a highest score of 155 not out against Bangladesh at Galle in March 2013.

Chandimal missed the opening match of the three-Test series at Galle as he was down with pneumonia.

Dinesh Chandimal also returns to lead the side after missing match one due to pneumonia, however Rangana Herath - who captained the side in Chandimal's absence - is a doubt with the finger injury he sustained in the first Test. The last-named makes a national comeback after a year.

Sri Lanka Squad for second Test: Dinesh Chandimal (Captain), Upul Tharanga, Dimuth Karunaratne, Kusal Mendis, Angelo Mathews, Dhananjaya de Silva, Niroshan Dickwella, Dilruwan Perera, Rangana Herath, Lahiru Kumara, Vishwa Fernando, Malinda Pushpakumara, Nuwan Pradeep, Danushka Gunathilaka, Lahiru Thirimanne and Lakshan Sandakan.
