Giroud the hero as Arsenal escapes with win over Leicester

Substitute Aaron Ramsey rifled home to level before Giroud - introduced alongside the Wales worldwide - headed in an 85th-minute victor to settle a breathless encounter in Arsenal's favour.

Arsenal record-signing Alexandre Lacazette got off to a flawless by scoring inside two minutes of kickoff.

"That's unmanageable so to bring one more player in for the sake of it would be stupid, but if we find an exceptional one, we will do it".

The 23-year-old used fantastic pace and impressive technique to regularly have a go at striking the target, but was unsuccessful.

Lacazette almost had his second of the night just minutes later, but Leicester keeper Kasper Schmeichel turned the shot aside, but Giroud beat the Dane with an exquisite header on the ensuing corner to give Arsenal the 4-3 victory.

"Not only as a player, he is a fantastic player, but as well in the group".

That was followed up by Olivier Giroud extremely late in the game with a brilliant header to seal the points on a dramatic night.

"Of course you can not afford to concede three goals at home".

On Olivier Giroud: "I love the man and the player. It was relief he chose to stay".

The relieved gaffer said: "It's impossible to keep all the strikers happy when they don't play, but we have many games and hopefully I can give them all a good number of games. He has a big weight in this squad and it was a relief for me that he made a decision to stay".

Giroud, who had a hard time getting into the starting XI last season as Wenger preferred to play Alexis Sanchez as the lone striker, has been vocal in his desire to play more games from start.

"You want the Premier League to be the best league in the world and I think it has to produce these kind of games to produce interest and quality". "We're disappointed to score three and come away with a defeat".

"You know, I must say I opened the door for him at some stage because I know that it's important for him to play".

Arsenal have quite a healthy record when facing Leicester as they've won four of their last five games against the Foxes, including a double in their title winning campaign of 2015-16.
