Man held over jogging push on Putney Bridge eliminated as suspect

The man, Eric Bellquist, a 41-year-old American investment banker, was taken into custody on Thursday on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm after the police published a video of the violent encounter. The private-equity specialist was out of the country when the assault occurred, his lawyer said.

CCTV footage of the incident, which happened on May 5 but was released this week, appears to show a male jogger knocking a 33-year-old woman into the road as she walked across Putney Bridge in west London.

Bellquist, who previously worked for Lehman Brothers and is now employed by Hutton Collins Partners, was arrested this week in Chelsea on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm. However, Go Head London, which employs the bus driver in question, said in a recent statement that the driver had said while he was pleased to be a hero, he was merely doing his job.

A man arrested on suspicion of pushing a woman in front of a bus while jogging across a London bridge has been released without charge and eliminated from a police investigation. The bus swerved and then stopped to avoid hitting the woman.

Footage continues to show that the same runner looped back around on his run 15 minutes later, crossing the bridge in the other direction.

Police described the jogger as a white man in his 30s with brown eyes and short brown hair. He was wearing a grey t-shirt and dark blue shorts.

The victim attempted to speak to him but he did not acknowledge her and continued running, the Met said.
