Virginia Governor to White Nationalists: 'Go Home'

Death toll from Charlottesville violence rises to 3

"Go home", said McAuliffe at a press conference Saturday evening.

"It is my firm hope and desire that the governor and other state and local officials will learn from this past weekend how constitutionally to prevent events like the horror we saw in Charlottesville from ever happening again", Gastanaga wrote.

"We're not gonna let a small group of people come in here and intimidate us", said McAuliffe. "Without their extensive preparations and measured actions, we would be facing a far more grave situation today". They wielded lit tiki torches and chanted slogans like "You will not replace us" and "blood and soil", a racist ethnic nationalist expression popularized by the Nazis during World War II. Some have called on President Donald Trump to deliver a more direct statement of disapproval after he spoke out against "this display of hatred, bigotry and violence and many sides". Though the president issued a statement addressing the violence Saturday, he ignored reporters' questions asking if he directly condemned the white supremacist groups who had converged on the Virginia college town.

The Virginia city is still reeling after violence at a "Unite the Right" rally held by white nationalists, neo-Nazis and members of the "alt-right".

The violence culminated when a Nazi supporter slammed his auto into a crowd of counter-demonstrators, killing Heather Heyer, a 32-year-old woman, and leaving 19 others injured.

In another deadly incident, a helicopter crash near Charlottesville hours after the violence had erupted, two people have been killed, according to Virginia state police. "For the white supremacists and neo-Nazis who came to our handsome state yesterday, there is no place for you here".

He said: 'It's got to stop, and they've got to stop this rhetoric.

It is a process to help this wounded community start healing, which McAuliffe says will take some time.

"In this world we will have tribulations, but to rejoice, because the lord He said he has already overcome it", said a parishioner.
