Japan, S.Korea push Putin over Pyongyang sanctions

A South Korean defence ministry spokesman said there were no signs of the North preparing a missile launch or a nuclear test on Saturday

Mexico's move follows a tide of global condemnation of North Korea for repeated missile launches and the test of a powerful nuclear weapon in recent weeks.

Last year, North Korea conducted its fifth nuclear test on the day of the anniversary.

Speaking at a news conference in the White House in Washington, DC, on Thursday, Trump said a military action against Pyongyang is still on the table while said that "nothing's inevitable".

The US president took that diplomatic pressure a step further on Sunday, warning that he was considering "stopping all trade with any country doing business with North Korea".

There was no chance the xenon "will have an impact on South Korea's territory or population", the agency said, per Reuters. Both have in the past resisted a ban of oil exports to North Korea, although on Thursday Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said, "given the new developments", China agrees that further United Nations sanctions are needed, though he did not specify what kind.

China is a veto-wielding permanent member of the U.N. Security Council, as well as North Korea's main trading partner and source of food and fuel aid. The other half is dialogue and negotiation. "Oil sanctions are the most effective sanctions, so I'd like to strongly ask for this", he said on Saturday on Nippon Television. We are in a position now, and you know the new orders.

"We ride horses, we hang out, we go skiing", he continued.

"Let's wait for the results", Peskov told journalists.

With North Korea's upgraded military capabilities, the newspaper warned that the United States and its "vassal" forces are doomed to be defeated, at a time when the worldwide community is carefully watching the North for signs of another missile launch or other provocations on the occasion of the anniversary.

"I will put forward to ministers to work in the coming days to increase European Union autonomous sanctions", diplomatic chief Federica Mogherini said as she arrived for a meeting of European Union foreign ministers in Tallinn.

North Korea held a mass celebration for the scientists involved in carrying out its largest nuclear blast to date, with fireworks and a huge rally in Pyongyang. The North flight-tested its developmental Hwasong-14 ICBMs twice in July and analysis of flight data suggested that the missiles could reach deep into the USA mainland when perfected.

The Defense Ministry announced Wednesday that four more rocket launchers that make up the Terminal High-Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) system would be installed along with the two launchers already in operation at a former golf course in Seongju.

President Donald Trump said Wednesday that military action is not his "first choice" to address North Korea's ongoing moves to develop its nuclear and ballistic missile programs, hours after he spoke by phone with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
