Premier League to close window before 2018-19 season starts

English Premier League clubs voted on Thursday to shut the 2018 close-season transfer window before the start of the 2018-19 campaign.

I bet Sky Sports didn't vote for it!

But on Thursday, after a shareholders' meeting in London, news whispered out that nearly all the Premier League clubs came forth to vote for the closure of transfer window ahead of the first game of the campaign is played.

Juventus chief executive Giuseppe Marotta thinks Serie A, LaLiga, Bundesliga and Ligue 1 should follow the trailblazing Premier League and move their transfer windows.

Many of us (me included) put Harry Kane in their fantasy football teams despite knowing he doesn't score in August - zero times in 13 Premier League games in the month - but he does in September.

Club bosses are set to vote this week on a proposal to close the window early, a move that would leave it out of line with the standard Federation Internationale de Football Association dates.

The window across Europe runs until 31 August.

Hopefully the January Transfer Window is next to go!

Have Premier League clubs, therefore, taken the right decision? Clubs throughout Europe will have the option of cherry picking players in the final three weeks of August, with Premier League clubs having no chance to find replacements. There were some concerns that while they understood they wouldn't be able to buy other players, they also understood their players could still be picked off by those who hadn't closed their leagues.

The Premier League transfer window will now close before the English top flight season starts.

"That is good news", he said.

Former West Ham United and England manager Sam Allardyce has suggested that Liverpool's defence could cost them a shot at winning the Premier League this season. "I think most managers would say the same. You get on with the season", the 24-year-old said. With the window running even after the games have commenced, supporters often hold onto the hope that their side will land some marquee player or the other before deadline day.
