Since Workplace Chat app doesn't require administrative privileges, anyone should be able to install the app on their PC.

The mobile app and a browser version on Workplace Chat has been around for around a year with Facebook boasting some 30,000 organisations across the world making use of the chat service, once it was taken out of its private beta.

With the Workplace desktop app, Facebook is enabling workforces with screen sharing and file sharing features.

In addition to these, the latest apps include fun conversation features like message reactions, gifs, and mentions. Individuals will soon be able to click a button and instantly start a video meeting for their team.

Much like other messaging and collaboration tools, Workplace Chat works across Windows and Mac desktops, as well as offering an Android and iOS app. "These design updates are based on feedback from customers and make it easier to connect and navigate on Workplace". Companies like Walmart, Heineken, Spotify, Lyft and Reliance Group are among the early adopters of Workplace at their workplaces.

"We envision Workplace as an employee's command center for everything that's happening with their team, their company, and their industry", Codorniou wrote.

Additionally, Facebook is giving existing Workplace apps a fresh coat of paint with a new look which is more consistent across different platforms.

At Oxfam International, a staff worker shared a video on Workplace about his work helping bring clean water to a village in South Sudan.
