Gareth Bale ruled out of Wales' World Cup qualifiers with calf injury

Wales suffer major blow as Gareth Bale ruled out of final World Cup qualifiers

The Real Madrid attacker suffered a calf strain against Borussia Dortmund last week in the Champions League, and has been ruled out for global duty.

And it has now been confirmed Bale will definitely not be available for the crucial fixtures, dealing a major blow to Wales' hopes of qualification.

The 17-year-old came off the bench to score the victor against Austria last month.

Those chances have been bolstered considerably with news that Gareth Bale will miss his country's last two games.

Neither Wales nor Ireland can claim an automatic spot should leaders Serbia win at Austria on Friday or home to Georgia on Monday. "They are obviously three super-special players and we haven't always had them, but the lads who have come in have been absolutely magnificent".

"But we've got a strong squad and whoever comes in needs to step up and do a job". An exciting prospect that has already got his worldwide goal-scoring career off the mark, Woodburn could be that striker that is potentially prolific and could add a second piece in the jigsaw of Wales over the next decade alongside Bale.

"We've got a good group and they will want to put a shift in".

Perez is said to have told Bale he could go on Wales duty but would have to be very careful as one more injury could end his Real career.

'I wouldn't say I can replace him, I'm a different kind of player, ' added the former Manchester United trainee.

It is being reported that in his absence, the 17-year-old Ben Woodburn, who plays for Liverpool, could make his first start for Wales.
