CNN reportedly boycotts White House's Christmas party

President Donald Trump

Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders celebrated the news that CNN would not be attending, describing it as "Christmas [coming] early".

- The Trump family is getting ready to celebrate their first Christmas in the White House, and first lady Melania Trump has already decked the halls.

Under fire from Trump, the network says it would be 'inappropriate to celebrate with him as his invited guests'.

When White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders got wind of CNN's decision, she could hardly contain her excitement.

Another new touch are glistening wintry branches lining an East Wing hallway that leads guests to a tree decorated with the Trump family's official Christmas ornament, a gold-toned bauble featuring the presidential coat of arms surrounded by a wreath of holly.

In yet another scathing attack on news networks critical of his presidency, Trump tweeted Monday that there should be a contest to determine "the most dishonest, corrupt" outlet.

The White House Christmas Party, scheduled for Friday at 2 p.m., was slated to have punch and pie.

CNN punched back, saying, on air, that the president, by his remarks, is putting in danger journalists working overseas.

The network has waged a campaign pushing back against Trump's attack. #FactsFirst, ' the CNN PR team tweeted. They are all bad. "Victor to receive the FAKE NEWS TROPHY!"

Trump has before shown his clear preference for the conservative-leaning Fox - often tweeting praise of its anchors, stories and "honest" coverage of his administration.

On Monday the department sued AT&T to block the merger with the justification that it will hurt competition and consumers.

Revealing the presidential mansion's holiday furnishings on November 27, FLOTUS decked out the White House in a classic yuletide theme dubbed "Time-Honored Traditions", which included a bevy of twinkling Christmas trees, a live ballet performance from "The Nutcracker", and a 300-pound gingerbread replica of the White House.
