Courtois: Contract talks with Chelsea haven't developed

Courtois'wants £205k-a-week deal

Thibaut Courtois will delay further talks over a new Chelsea contract until the end of the season.

Chelsea are desperately trying to convince Courtois to put pen to paper on a new deal but talks have been at a relative standstill since May - when the club balked at his demands of £200k-per-week.

Speaking of his current contract status, Courtois frankly admitted in a press conference, "The most important thing is to perform well for myself and the team".

'Regarding my contract, that's something where Chelsea must deal with my agent. "I don't think there have been any new developments", he said.

The uncertainty surrounding the twenty-five year old will concern the Premier League champions who will not want to see him leave on a free transfer with both Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid monitoring the situation. He then added that there is plenty of time when the season concludes in May for talks about a potential new deal, which is certainly positive news for Blues fans as they will be desperate for their number one to sign on the dotted line at the end of the campaign.

Courtois has made 125 appearances for the Blues in all competitions since linking up with the first team in 2014.

Real have also pursued Manchester United "keeper David de Gea in the past, but Courtois" recent admission may spark Zinedine Zidane's side into action, though the former Atletico star is not planning to sort out his future until the summer.

Courtois' girlfriend and their two children have returned to Spain but the Belgian has promised to give his all for Chelsea this term.
