Jeff Bezos Of Amazon Now Worth $100 Billion - Thanks To Black Friday

According to Bloomberg, Adobe Analytics data show online purchases were 18.4 percent higher than last year-possibly driven in part by Amazon driving many physical retailers towards extinction-and that "investors are betting the company will take an outsized share of online spending over the gifting season". Black Friday sales helped Amazon shares to jump more than 2 percent and online holiday sales increase by more than 18 percent since previous year, Bloomberg reported.

Bezos, the founder and largest shareholder of Amazon, reached the 12-digit milestone for the first time, according to Bloomberg, one of the two major services that track the real-time net worth of the world's richest people.

Bezos's 78.9 million shares in Amazon are now worth United States dollars 93.6 billion. Bezos has once again knocked Bill Gates off the top spot.

It is reasonable for Bezos' pocket to increase because the citizens in Uncle Sam's country at least spent about $1.5 billion or equivalent to IDR19.9 trillion on Thanksgiving night for Black Friday transactions.

Bezos started 2017 as the fourth richest person in the world, and surpassed both Inditex (ZTSTF, +2.98%) founder Amancio Ortega and Berkshire Hathaway's Warren Buffet this year as well.

Forbes, which also tracks real-time net worth, put Bezos at $99.6 billion.

By comparison, Bill Gates' current estimated net worth stands at a paltry $86.8 billion (£65.1bn). After the close of trading in NY on Friday, the billionaire's total net worth fell back down to $97.9 billion. In June, he tweeted a solicitation for ideas on a philanthropy strategy.

His goal was to tackle problems "at the intersection of urgent need and lasting impact".
