Pakistan's Mohammad Hazeef suspended by ICC for illegal bowling action

ICC suspends Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez from bowling over illegal action

Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez has been banned from bowling in worldwide cricket with immediate effect after an independent assessment of the cricketer's bowling action. His action was first reported in November 2014 and after initial suspension he was allowed to bowl again in April 2015.

Hafeez is now the number one all-rounder in one day global cricket. The International Cricket Council said subsequent testing at the United Kingdom's Loughborough University showed a majority of Hafeez's deliveries "exceeded the 15 degrees level of tolerance permitted under the regulations".

Zaka said the best places for Pakistan players for bowling tests are South Africa and Australia rather than England and India, who both have a biased attitude against them, while suggesting Hafeez should have gone either to South Africa or Australia for the test.

Hafeez has overall picked 237 wickets from 326 global matches spread across all the formats. The offspinner underwent reassessment of his bowling action at the National Cricket Centre in Brisbane, and was cleared in November 2016. The ICC announced that an independent body has found Hafeez's bowling action to be illegal. He tweeted after the news of his suspension came out that he will work twice as hard to rectify his action this time. Just 2 months after that he was once again reported for illegal action during a Test against Sri Lanka at Galle.
