Gujarat Assembly election 2017: BJP's Muslim outreach worries Congress

Rahul Gandhi speaks at a meeting

The finance minister's barbed remarks were in response to Congress leader Kapil Sibal's charge that Prime Minister Narendra Modi can no longer be called a Hindu as he had completely embraced fundamentalist ideology.

In his first comments as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) surged ahead to a decisive victory in the civic polls, Adityanath said the results in favour of the BJP in the civic polls showed that the people had faith in the party and the policies pursued by the central and the state governments.

"How will the dream of a "New India" be realised this way", Gandhi asked PM Modi, who has been canvassing for votes for his party for the assembly polls. The Prime Minister is scheduled to address rallies in Surendranagar and Rajkot later today. Media had to ask Indiraji (late prime minister Indira Gandhi) before publishing something.

"Those who have no internal democracy can't work for people. So, what the youngster Shehzad is saying is not unusual it is the Congress culture".

On one hand, the contesting Congress is able to gather more crowd, while on the other, PM Modi's rallies are witnessing vacant seats.

Meanwhile, briefing media in Ahmedabad, state Congress President Bharatsinh Solanki said, Congress will announce its poll manifesto tomorrow.

"In Uttar Pradesh, where the Congress ruled for decades, the state from where generations of top Congress leaders belong.we saw what happened there in the local elections".

"When there were floods in Banaskantha, Congress leaders were in Bengaluru to save 1 leader from losing a Rajya Sabha poll. UP knows the Congress well and so does Gujarat", he said.
