North Korea won't disarm, says Russian delegation to Pyongyang: RIA

North Korea's Hwasong intercontinental ballistic missile is lauched at an undisclosed location.

The North's Hwasong-15 is considerably larger than the regime's previous ICBM, the Hwasong-14, and is created to deliver larger warheads, South Korea's Defense Ministry said in a report to lawmakers.

Officials also said the meeting was not focused on any particular topic, including North Korea.

"The task we face is to completely prevent North Korea from further advancing its nuclear and missile technologies, and eventually to have them dismantled", Moon added.

"The dictator of North Korea made a decision yesterday that brings us closer to war, not farther from it", she said.

The South Korean Defense Ministry has stated that the intercontinental ballistic missile recently tested by Pyongyang could potentially reach the territory of the United States.

Tal Inbar, the head of the space research center at the Fisher Institute for Air and Space Strategic Studies, observed on Twitter that the reentry vehicle, or the tip of the missile that must return down to earth, was "HUGE".

He said this is probably much lighter than any real nuclear payload the North can produce.

In comparison with the other ICBM launches from North Korea, the response from President Donald Trump to the most recent one has been muted, and perhaps for good reason.

Many experts have said the idea is the only possible option available, as Seoul and Washington have always been maintaining what they called "the strongest" sanctions and pressure against North Korea under bilateral and worldwide efforts.

Analysts at Image Sat International unveiled the new construction just two days after the rogue nation launched its most powerful missile yet. It showed a capacity to improve upon its existing designs and to design new missiles independently.

"We know they were building to this. Our options to stop them are still very bad", Robert Kelly, an associate professor of political science at Pusan National University in South Korea, told the Los Angeles Times.

China also suggested the North should stop the tests in return for a halt to U.S. military exercises - a proposal Washington has rejected in the past.

The South Korean ministry said the new missile is bigger, more advanced, and has a domestically-made mobile launcher that, given that it can be moved, makes it harder to destroy pre-emptively.

The US government is expected to analyze the possible flight routes of the Hwasong-15 from various angles, build an operational concept to intercept it from the ground, and simulate it during the joint military drills with South Korea.
