Rickie Fowler rallies to win Hero World Challenge from 7 shots behind

Traveling on business, Nicklaus has kept abreast of Woods' comeback at this week's Hero World Challenge, though he hasn't caught any of the proceedings from Albany Club in the Bahamas.

Woods, who had his back fused just seven months ago, bounced back from an average third round with his lowest round of the tournament on Sunday.

Woods finally picked up a shot at the 14th, doffing his hat to the crowd in relief, before carding another birdie at the par-three 17th.

He reeled off three more birdies after a double bogey at 10, but dropped another shot at 17 following an errant tee shot and ended a promising return in disappointing fashion with a three-putt bogey at the last.

Fleetwood's countryman Justin Rose (68) was alone in fourth on eight-under, with Woods a stroke back alongside Matt Kuchar and Rickie Fowler, who both shot 70s, Japan's Hideki Matsuyama (66) and Italy's Francesco Molinari (68).

"Now I have a chance to go out there and play competitive golf again".

"You've got to keep fighting, and that's one of things I've always done in my entire career is just keep fighting and try to post the best number I possibly could". "Today it was a lot, unfortunately".

A further birdie putt on the 18th rolled agonisingly wide and Woods said he didn't think he had major adjustments to make to improve in the final round.

"Anything that I did right ended up in a bad spot, and then anything I did wrong it was really bad", he said. "I've missed the fight and getting out there and competing, fighting against the golf course and the guys. I've missed doing this".
