Chelsea Consider Incredible Move for Burnley Striker Ashley Barnes

Chelsea are closing in on a double deal for Roma duo Edin Dzeko and Emerson Palmieri and are increasingly confident of concluding the deal by the end of Monday, according to reports.

Roma would be happy to accept a €60m for both Dzeko and Palmieri, as the Bosnian striker became excited with the move after getting a phone call from Antonio Conte, who offered him a contract of €7m per season.

And it looks like his rise in form has peaked Chelsea's interest.

We all knew Chelsea wanted another striker, after all they spent all summer trying to sign Fernando Llorente, but we didn't know quite how desperate they were for a backup to Alvaro Morata until this month.

Dzeko, who played for Manchester City between 2011 and 2016 before joining Roma, won the Serie A Golden Boot last season and has nine goals in 19 games this campaign. The move for the powerful Algeria global follows attempts to recruit Andy Carroll from West Ham United and Peter Crouch from Stoke City.

Antonio Conte has been very open about his intentions to bolster the quality of his own Chelsea squad, and now those words have been put to practice as Chelsea make their swoop to sign two of Roma's key players. A youth career in his native South America has clearly had an impact on his skill set though, having completed the most dribbles per match (1.8) than any other player for the capital club last term.

Dzeko has impressed with AS Roma this season, registering 12 goals and 4 assists to his name, so far.

A club spokesman said: "Chelsea FC complies with all Federation Internationale de Football Association statutes and regulations when recruiting players".
