Detective Pikachu US release confirmed with a giant amiibo

Detective Pikachu is the newest confirmed Nintendo amiibo in months

The 3DS game Detective Pikachu is coming to the West in March, The Pokemon Company said today, and with it comes a giant Amiibo that's almost double the size of a standard Pikachu.

Detective Pikachu comes out on March 23, 2018, for the 3DS.

The New Nintendo 2DS XL Pikachu Edition will hit the USA - it was released in Japan late a year ago - on January 26.

Developed by Creatures Inc, Detective Pikachu is a puzzle-solving adventure featuring Pikachu as the titular character. Moreover, this super-sized figurine is roughly twice the size of the regular Smash Pikachu amiibo!

In Detective Pikachu, players control a human that works alongside a deep-voiced Pikachu who has somehow learned how to speak English (or whatever language you play the game in) to solve mysteries and chase down criminals.

Playing as the young Tim Goodman, you'll partner up with gruff, battle hardened Pikachu as you investigate the disappearance of Tim's father. I'm nearly more excited for the Amiibo than the game.

The Pikachu will also get his own amiibo - a real toy that is compatible with the game - that will help you find out real in-game hints during the game. The Detective Pikachu amiibo will be used to view all the short Pika Prompt videos from previously completed chapters of the game, including Pika Prompts players may have missed earlier.

The Nintendo 2DS XL Pikachu Edition is set to release in the United States on January 26, 2018.

The first trailer for Detective Pikachu is certainly a little different. Another reward for patient fans will be the absurdly large special edition Detective Pikachu amiibo coming out alongside the game.

Check out the trailer and let us know if you're as hyped for the upcoming set of case files as we are.
