Harry Potter cruises to set sail this Summer

See the costumes props and sets for yourself on the Harry Potter river cruise

We never got to sail over the lake near Hogwarts with Hagrid when we were 11, but thanks to a new Harry Potter-themed river cruise, we can now get pretty close.

Other stops include Hampton Court Palace-the Tudor home of Henry VIII (featuring "the finest Tudor ceiling in existence, showing you that J.K. Rowling's settings are not far from the truth", according to the cruise itinerary)-and Windsor Castle-the largest inhabited castle in the world (and very much worth a look, assuming the Queen isn't home). Studio - The Making of Harry Potter, where fans will be able to behold the original set, props and costumes.

The Harry Potter cruises depart August 19 and September 16; the Downton Abbey cruises depart April 1, April 8, May 6, May 27, July 8 and August 12. It's also the location where Harry speaks with Barty Crouch Sr. following the second task in Goblet of Fire. That's a cool stop, but the best parts of this cruise have been saved for last.

The Celebration of Harry Potter event will also include a scavenger hunt throughout the magical attractions, film screenings, and studio tours.

Now for the bad news. But be warned, the whole boat experience will cost you a pretty penny, actually about $34,000 United States dollars worth of pretty pennies. Bookings are available August 5-11 and August 19-25. You can get more details and book your cruise right here.

The Harry Potter river cruise, a unofficial seven-night experience aboard an eight-person barge, will be weaving its way along the Thames River in England this summer, stopping at various iconic scenes from the Harry Potter film series and taking passengers on a behind-the-scenes tour of Warner Bros.
