Mariah Carey got her redemption with a fabulous New Year's Eve performance

Not shade or receipts - literal tea for drinking purposes.

Past year it really was a disaster. "Oh, it's a disaster". It's a disaster. O.K. Well, we'll just have to rough it.

And don't worry, Mimi eventually got her tea.

Yes, Carey was forced to join the legions of commoners in attendance at her gig and suffer through the show without a hot beverage. She had technical difficulties during a live performance of her 1991 hit Emotions.

Even better, the giant rock seen glittering on her middle finger is, according to CNN, her engagement ring from ex-fiance James Packer, which she called an "inconvenience fee" after she sued him for $50m after their breakup. It could have been a year ago.

On Sunday, the diva took the stage at Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve, despite the unfortunate and somewhat disastrous performance that plagued the ears and eyes of everyone last year.

The temperature in New York City on Sunday night was only 11 degrees during Carey's performance, which served as a redemption of sorts after the singer's debacle past year on the same stage.

"Happy new year", she said. The singer's performance issues were evident from the start, as she claimed she was unable to hear the music she was suppose to sing along with. She opened with "Vision of Love", which wasn't great, but considering the wind chill, she gets a pass.

While her vocals may not be as effortless as they once were, and the cold weather no doubt put a strain on her voice, we think she put on a fabulous show.

Even without the tea, her performance gathered strength throughout the set without any obvious glitches - a marked improvement from previous year. After Hero finished, the camera went back to Seacrest. It's Mariah Carey, clearly!
