Trump Homeland Security Secretary Not Sure If Most Norwegians Are White

But Nielsen said she did not hear him use the words "shithole" or "shithouse" in reference to Africa or Haiti.

Nielsen gave her questionable remark while testifying under oath in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee Tuesday on a new report from her department regarding the number of terrorism-related charges between 2001 and 2016. "I don't dispute the president using tough language".

Durbin: You said on Fox News that the President used strong language.

"I did not hear that word used, no sir", DHS Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen responded in what was an, at times, contentious Senate hearing with two of the senators who were also in that meeting. "I did not hear that word used", Nielsen told senators. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) asked.

Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen said immigrants protected under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program won't be a priority for deportation.

"Is the President realistic when he says he wants $20 billion so he can build the wall in one year?" asked Sen.

Republican Sen. Lindsay Graham, who was at both the meeting and Tuesday's hearing, had a more colorful way to describe the "shithole" affair: "This has turned into an s-show", he said.

But even her defense of that didn't add up, given that she confirmed Trump pushed for accepting more immigrants from countries like Norway - which directly contradicts his reported desire to accept immigrants based on skill rather than country of origin.

"The language used by me at the DACA meeting was tough, but this was not the language used", Trump said in a tweet.

'I do remember him asking about the concept of under-represented countries as a fix, ' she said. Did he use anything similar to that, describing certain countries? Dick Durbin and multiple reports, Trump referred to Haiti and countries in Africa with vulgar language, indicating he didn't want immigrants from those nations in the USA, but would prefer more Europeans. "If you cant remember the words of my commander in chief, I find that unacceptable".

Here was the exchange between Nielsen and Sen.

Booker quoted Martin Luther King, Jr., Elie Wiesel, and Mohandas Gandhi as he berated Nielsen over what he said was being a silent bystander to Trump's wrongdoing.

"It's a big problem", Nielsen said, as the surge is a turn around from a big drop that occurred during the early months of the Trump Administration.

Durbin, unsatisfied with Nielsen's answer, asked her the same question again.

"I sit here right now because when good white people in this country heard bigotry, or hatred, they stood up", Booker said. It was very impassioned.

Nielsen said her agency was talking with the state about how it can improve its alert system.

Ms Nielsen says what Mr Trump is looking at is the same as the merit-based system used in Australia and Canada. Now, I don't know where that guy went.
