Trump threatens to cut Pakistan aid over 'deceit' in terror fight

US President Trump working on agenda of Pakistan's enemies, says Imran Khan

Earlier today, the USA president had said that his country has foolishly distributed aid to Pakistan even as it continued its support to terrorist.

Trump, in a strongly-worded tweet, said America had been "foolishly" giving aid to Pakistan for 15 years, but in return, it has only received "lies and deceit".

"Pakistan has fought hard and suffered heavily against those terrorists focused on its government, and now we are asking them to focus on the terrorists that are attacking Afghanistan and attacking the coalition", he continued.

A few months ago, Trump declared that Pakistan "gives safe haven to agents of chaos, violence and terror".

What set Trump off about Pakistan wasn't immediately clear, nor was what "No more" implied.

Last week, The New York Times reported that the Trump administration was seriously weighing whether to withhold $255 million in already delayed aid to Islamabad over its failure to better crack down on terror groups in Pakistan.

Donald Trump said the U.S. had foolishly given Pakistan more that billion in aid since 2012.

"We make massive payments every year to Pakistan". Pakistani security forces rescued American hostage Caitlan Coleman, her Canadian husband, Joshua Boyle, and their three children born during the five years they spent in captivity.

In his first tweet of 2018, Trump blasted Pakistan, saying its leaders have given the U.S.

The group was responsible for kidnapping a Canadian-American couple and holding them from 2012 to 2017, when Pakistani forces secured their release in what they said was as a rescue operation but some United States officials reportedly described as a "negotiated handover".

In August, Trump warned that Pakistan had "much to lose" if it failed to cooperate with the U.S.in Afghanistan. "Our partnership, which reflects a renewed US commitment, will set the conditions to end the war and finally bringing peace to Afghanistan", read a statement issued by Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani's Office.

When asked about the government's stance if the United States conducts drone attacks in settled areas of the country, the foreign minister said that the country will defend its sovereignty.

Trump said in laying out his national security strategy on December 18 that "while we desire continue partnership [with Pakistan], we must see decisive action against terrorist groups operating on their territory".
