United Airlines Refuses To Let Emotional Support Peacock On Flight

Delta Air Lines recently introduced new regulations in an attempt to prevent passengers from bringing untrained animals onto

Delta announced changes to its support animal policy January 19 after reporting an 86 percent increase in animal-related incidents like urination, aggression, and biting on its flights since 2016. Apparently, you can't bring your emotional support peacock either.

Photos of the passenger and her peacock are going viral after being denied entry on a United Airlines flight.

Airlines have allowed dogs, cats, pigs and even miniature horses to accompany owners on planes to various destinations, but United Airlines flat out refused to allow a woman to bring a service bird onto a recent flight.

Oh, did we mention the animal in question was a peacock? "We explained this to the customers on three separate occasions before they arrived at the airport", the statement read. It's become impossible to tell the difference between outlandish stunts and people's support animals.

The airline also said it requires passengers to "provide documentation from a medical professional and at least 48 hours' advance notice" before bringing an emotional-support animal onto a flight. "Granted, there are the folks out there who truly do need it, but a lot of people are now, I guess, just testing the waters to see what it is you can do and what you can get away with".

Laurie suspects that things have gotten wild ever since the airlines started charging fees for everything from carry-on luggage to pet carriers.

Current policies at United say that trained service and emotional support animals must sit in front of a passenger's seat without obstructing the aisle.

In announcing its new policy, Delta noted that some passengers' emotional support animals were creatures like turkeys, gliding possums, snakes and spiders.
