Donald Trump Jr 'cashing in' on father's name in India

Donald Trump Jr

During the week-long trip, Trump Jr will also promote his luxurious residential project, Trump Towers. When asked why The Trump Organization chose to build luxury apartments in India before China, junior Trump, who is a regular visitor to India, said India is "substantially above board" for business compared to China and reforms, which are underway, will help attract investments from countries such as the US.

Newspaper ads carried in nearly every major Indian newspaper promise that buyers who order apartments in the development by Thursday will receive "a conversation and dinner" with Mr Trump Jr a day later.

Donald Trump Jr, the executive vice-president of the Trump Organisation, arrived in Kolkata tonight to push sales of the upcoming Trump Towers in the city.

Later in the week, Trump Jr is scheduled to share stage with Prime Minister Modi and make a speech about Indo-Pacific relations at a New Delhi business summit. They offer "a conversation and dinner" with him on Friday if you reserve an apartment at the Trump Towers in Gurgaon - about 20 miles outside New Delhi - by this week.

The US president's son told The New York Times that he has been cultivating relationships in India for a decade, but critics say the Trump family is using the president's status as a form of covert advertising - a practice known as "shilling".

Trump Jr. will also visit Kolkata, where the construction of a project with 137 luxury units will begin soon.

India is Trump Organisation's biggest global market, with four real estate projects underway in Mumbai, Pune, Kolkata, and Gurugram. However, local media have reported that he is slated to visit other Trump projects across India. India is treating the current visit as a private one, unlike Ivanka's recent Hyderabad trip for a global business summit.
