Fortnite's new Battle Pass launches soon, here's what to expect

In the latest season, Battle Pass can unlock 76 items across 30 tiers, including new items like "back bling" and sky trails.

Season 3 has officially begun for Fortnite's Battle Royale mode, and with it come new skins, new customization options, at least one new weapon, and some much-needed improvements. In all, there are 100 tiers on the Battle Pass to reach throughout the season, with over 75 cosmetic rewards to collect.

Fortnite's primary claim to fame is its combination of building with either battle royale or wave-based survival, and with the 3.0.0 update a wealth of new options will make constructing things faster and easier than ever before.

What do you think of the theme and changes to the third season?

One of the other significant improvements to the game is the building changes Epic has made.

A new heavy ammo hand cannon weapon has been added to Battle Royale mode, which comes in both epic and legendary variants. That's because Epic will also unlock items and rewards in stages, meaning access will be determined by game progression in most cases. That means you'll have to play the paid Save The World campaign or use leftover V-bucks to join the release day festivities. It'll cost 950 V Bucks, unlocks a sweet astronaut style outfit immediately and has more loot than ever before to get your hands on. There will be additional improvements to Battle Royale and Save the World modes. Season 3's also bringing a new new orchestral music score composed by Marco Beltrami, whose work in film includes The Hurt Locker, and Logan. Each week a new set of seven challenges unlock, replacing the Season 2 Battle Pass daily challenges.

Epic didn't say exactly when season three would kick off but with season two ending today (February 20), the wait likely won't be very long (perhaps as early as tomorrow).

How many times have I clicked at the wrong time while building ramps and fallen to my death, or run out of one material and got shot before I realized I could swap to the next? It essentially lets players "paint" that piece into the world, which is handy for constructing simple structures - such as the staircase shown in the video below.
