Manchester United's Daley Blind to Roma is 'very difficult' - Danny Blind

Manchester United star in talks to leave club after Chelsea complete £25m transfer

The Serie A side have loss defender Emerson Palmieri to Chelsea, and the club are seeking reinforcements before the window slams shut.

Former Ajax and Holland manager Danny Blind spoke to LaRoma24 today, confirming that Jose Mourinho will not let his son depart on deadline day.

Despite starting the first three Premier League games of the season, helping to keep three clean sheets, Daley Blind has gone on to make just two more league appearances this season - both from the bench with games in the dying stages.

The 27-year old was earlier linked with a shock move to Barcelona as well, however those rumours died down pretty quickly and Roma are the latest suitors in his pursuit.

But says they have now turned their attentions to Sporting Lisbon's Jonathan Silva because they could not strike a deal with United.

"The choice of Italy would be very interesting for him but Manchester United is a great club that does not need to sell players and does not need money".

Mourinho noted in his Monday press conference that there weren't any fresh injuries in his squad ahead of the clash with Tottenham Hotspur but, with this new information in mind, he must have been referring to the group of players he was intending to select from - of which Blind is not one. "Maybe if we had a few days, a week perhaps [a deal would be possible], but we've only got a few hours, so it's really very hard".

He failed to start a single Eredivisie match during his spell in the Netherlands and sees his season-long loan cut short on the final day of trading in the January window. Alexis Sanchez is the sole arrival from Arsenal.

Blind, 27, is surplus to requirements at Old Trafford and is viewed as a squad player by Jose Mourinho.
