'90s rapper Craig Mack dies at 46

Craig Mack, the Grammy-nominated "Flava in Ya Ear" rapper from Brentwood who helped launch Sean Combs' Bad Boy empire, died Monday in his Walterboro, South Carolina, home.

Craig Mack will be eulogized today for his work as the first signee to Puff Daddy's Bad Boy Records during the '90s, in light of his sudden death at age 46.

Mack was from Long Island in NY and signed with P. Diddy's Bad Boy record label.

News of Craig Mack's death hit social media this morning.

See some reactions below. "Mack's the brand new flava in ya ear".

Craig Mack is survived by his wife and two children.

Joe Budden tweeted, "Rest in peace Craig Mack".

The hip-hop mogul considered Mack and Notorious B.I.G.to be the foundation that started Bad Boy Entertainment. "I can not believe this dude is gone", Scratch wrote early Tuesday morning.

The music magazine noted a video in which Mack, who became a minister, said he traded a life of "wickedness" for "righteousness". Mack would go on to release one more album, Operation: Get Down in 1997, before leaving the music industry entirely, to devote his life to religion. Mack was Scratch's tour roadie, helping set up and break down his turntables each night. "Flava In Ya Ear" was Mack's crown jewel earning him a Grammy nomination before he chose to leave Bad Boy Records in 1995.

Our thoughts are with Craig's loved ones during this time. "I wanted the world to know the talent he had. He wasn't scared. He was ready", Toney said. "I can not believe this dude is gone", DJ Scratch recently stated on Instagram.

Mack, a native of Long Island, followed it with the gold-certified single "Get Down"; both songs were featured on his debut album, "Project: Funk Da World".

All through Twitter and Instagram, Hip-Hop figures across the board are giving props where they're due. "I always respected that.#RIPCraigMack".

"Rest in Beats", wrote Chuck D.
