Former Trump Aide Nunberg Subpoenaed in Russia Probe (Audio)

A subpoena seen by Axios and NBC News calls a witness to turn over communications from President Trump and nine of his campaign associates starting in November 2015

"I'm going to end up co-operating with them", he said.

"Donald Trump did not collude with the Russians".

Former Trump aide Sam Nunberg on Wednesday said he has complied with FBI special counsel Robert Mueller's subpoena and will "answer every single question" when he appears before a federal grand jury Friday.

Susan McDougal, a former business partner of President Bill Clinton, famously chose to go to jail instead of testifying about Clinton before a grand jury during the Whitewater investigation.

In the process, Nunberg, who Trump fired in 2015, also made a series of jaw-dropping - and unsubstantiated - claims against Trump and those in his orbit.

Nunberg, who worked on Trump's staff early in the campaign, has largely escaped public involvement in Mueller's investigation.

On Tuesday, Nunberg issued an apology to White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders, whose appearance he had viciously insulted the day before. "She's a joke", Nunberg rebutted. "She's not attractive. She's a fat slob". But that's unrelevant [sic]. "But that's irrelevant. The person she works for has a 30% approval rating".

"I think that he [Trump] may have done something during the election", adding, "I don't know that for sure".

At the time, Nunberg's firing was viewed as part of a broader struggle between Trump aides Corey Lewandowski and Roger Stone. During the trip, Trump allegedly participated in lewd sex acts with Russian prostitutes, according to the Steele dossier.

Sam Nunberg apparently chose to cooperate with Special Counsel Robert Mueller after getting on-air advice from a legal analyst on host Ari Melber's MSNBC show.

Mueller is looking into the Trump campaign and administration to determine whether they had any ties to Russia's interference in the 2016 election.

"You can't help but feel for these people who really not only are in legal trouble but also the financial costs, and here you've got a billionaire who they've all fallen on the ground for", Scarborough said. "Putin is too smart to collude with Donald Trump". However, the president has denied any such wrongdoing. On Twitter, Ned Price, who is a former Central Intelligence Agency official said that this subpoena shows that Mueller is treating president Trump's "entire senior campaign team like a criminal enterprise".

Nunberg also said Trump's foreign policy aide Carter Page was also colluding with Russian Federation, but he undermined Page's role in it.

Nunberg said he was only trying to protect Stone.

Katy Tur and Ari Melber on MSNBC and Jake Tapper and Burnett on CNN sounded sympathetic to Nunberg, asking about his emotional state and warning him of the consequences of refusing to cooperate with Mueller.

Don't say: "You won't get me! I would cooperate if it were me, but I'm a different breed of cat".

"Oh, Sam, I think your dentist is going to dump you right now", the comedian replied.

"We are fully cooperating with the office of the special counsel".
