Wonder Woman 2: Did Emma Stone Turn Down Villain Role?

Wonder Woman 2: Did Emma Stone Turn Down Villain Role?

Production is expected to begin in the United Kingdom near the end of May, around May 28. According to CBR, Warner Bros. had wanted Emma Stone in the role of the classic DC Comics foe, but the Oscar victor ultimately turned down the offer.

Long a subject of fan speculation, Cheetah reportedly could indeed be the villain of the sequel to director Patty Jenkins' Wonder Woman. There is no word if Cheetah will be walking the same path in the movie, provided that another actress is found in time to play the role.

The first Wonder Woman who at this point cardstock to the cinema, it is obviously necessary to expect a sequel.

The most interesting in all this is that apparently the role would have been offered to Emma Stone, who would have kindly refused for unknown reasons. Unfortunately, though, sources say she'll probably be passing on the role and WB's still searching for someone to take the part.

Gal Gadot will be the Amazon Princess Diana in Wonder Woman 2. If Warner Bros. gets Cheetah into "Wonder Woman 2", they could potentially win the race to get this character established in the public consciousness, but in fairness, it doesn't seem like Marvel is in a hurry to get Tigra on screen.

Though Wonder Woman did not receive any nominations for this year's Academy Awards ceremony, the film received a warm critical reception, and did manage to generate Oscar buzz. Miss Minerva, a British anthropologist who gains her superpowers after stumbling upon an ancient ritual in the lost city of Urzkartaga, isn't the only comic book character to have carried the supervillain's mantle. Her backstory was revamped for the New 52 continuity, and again following the events of DC Rebirth. The Cold War backdrop should further allow Jenkins and her writers (Geoff Johns and The Expendables' Dave Callahan) to expand upon the first Wonder Woman's themes about war and morality, within a new historical context.

Wonder Woman 2 is slated to hit theaters on November 1, 2019.
