Spotify Launches New Bundle Deal With Hulu In The US

Furthermore, Hulu's "limited commercial" plan costs you $8 a month.

Video will soon be critical for Spotify, given Apple's forthcoming plans for a TV subscription service that's filled with high-quality original video. It's worth noting, too, that you can cancel the whole thing at any time.

Spotify and Hulu revealed a combined music-TV streaming package for students back in September. That, however, demanded that sign-ups be registered on a specific list of education institutions.

Spotify is available in 61 countries and has a user base of 159 million, including ad-supported free listeners.

All the same, it isn't quite a free-for-all.

Spotify and Hulu have extended their partnership beyond an offer for students to bundle their music and TV streaming services in a single plan open to anyone.

It seems that basic cable is nearly gone, as many people don't need the hundreds of channels you will never watch. Picking whatever song you want is one of the exclusive features served for Premium users, in addition to offline downloads, ad-free listening, and unlimited skips.

It's also subject to a controlled roll-out.

To get the Hulu functionality, Spotify users will have to download and set up an account with the free Hulu app, although billing for the bundle will be handled through Spotify. That will add a three-month introductory Hulu subscription for just 99 cents. However general availability isn't expected until this summer. If you have a current Spotify Premium subscription, you will have to pay the $12.99 per month of price to take advantage of the offer.

Spotify and Hulu just extended a subscription bundle, which they were offering only to college students, to all users. Finally, from month four on, you pay the full $12.99.
