Trump threatens to send military forces to guard US-Mexico border

US President Donald Trump says he's pulling the plug on deals on the Dreamers and trade with Mexico

Speaking to reporters during a working lunch at the White House on Tuesday, President Donald Trump said he plans to enforce southern border protection with US military during wall construction.

"We need to have a wall that's about 700 to 800 miles", he said at a White House meeting, with Defense Secretary Jim Mattis at his side. "We have catch and release", Mr. Trump said Tuesday in a press conference with Baltic State leaders.

Trump's claim about being the first to implement such a decision and place troops at the southern border is inherently false.

It is not immediately clear how many troops would be send to the border by Trump or what authorities they would have, if they are sent at all.

He tweeted earlier for the third day about the "caravan" of migrants heading north from Central America.

"I think he is not well informed, I think he is unfairly using Honduras in a political debate he has with the US Congress", Diaz said, adding that Honduras deserved respect.

His remarks Tuesday come on the heels of multiple days of hardline immigration rhetoric from the Trump White House, with the President calling on Congress to pass strict border laws in a series of tweets beginning Sunday. "The caravan, which is over 1,000 people coming in from Honduras, thought they were just going to walk through Mexico and right through the border".

The letter from Reed, of Rhode Island, and Durbin, of IL, comes on the heels of reports that Trump suggested the idea to "several advisors" after being disappointed by the amount of money allocated for border security in the $1.3 trillion omnibus. "The men and women of our Border Patrol are doing a fine job in hard circumstances, and over the past five years, we have apprehended and sent home about 6 million people entering America illegally", he continued.

President Donald Trump announced Tuesday that the U.S. -Mexico border will be guarded with American troops. They began as short processions of migrants, some dressed in biblical garb and carrying crosses, as an Easter-season protest against attacks against Central Americans as they cross Mexico. According to the National Guard, its soldiers and airmen served as a force multiplier for the border patrol agents on the ground, spotting border intrusions and offering technical support. "Cash cow NAFTA is in play, as is foreign aid to Honduras and the countries that allow this to happen".

Trump also threatened to kill NAFTA if Mexico did not stop immigrants from reaching the US border. "They laugh at our dumb immigration laws".

The 1.3-trillion-U.S. -dollar spending bill, signed into law by Trump last month, only grants 1.6 billion dollars for border security measures, far short of what the administration has sought.
