America will be represented at 2018 World Cup, thanks to Will Smith

Every four years, artists are given the change to perform for over 2 billion people worldwide during the finale of the World Cup.

Prishtina-born singer Era Istrefi, who gained global acclaim with her song "Bon Bon" in 2016, will sing the official 2018 FIFA World Cup song alongside Will Smith and Nicky Jam according to Billboard and other publications.

Prior to that, Vibe reported that, according to reggaeton producer DJ Nelson, Smith and Nicky Jam were working on the song. The track, according to Billboard and other outlets, will be released Friday and was produced by Diplo, the producer whose hits with Major Lazer included "Lean On" and "Cold Water".

"Nicky Jam and Will Smith are producing the new copa de futbol (soccer World Cup), they're doing it together", he said.

In other World Cup news, Punk supergroup The Tallywags released their unofficial World Cup anthem "Charge Of The Light Brigade", in a bid to help England on their path to World Cup er, glory.

Smith and Jam have been seen in Cartegena, Colombia, with producer DJ Nelson telling music web site Vibe they might be performing the tune for this summer season's event in Russian Federation. Pitbull and Jennifer Lopez's "We Are One (Ole Ola)" was the official anthem of the 2014 tournament, held in Brazil.

A day earlier than Smith made the announcement in regards to the World Cup, Jam had posted an image of the pair on Twitter, saying: "The flawless of every part is the method".

There are multiple songs associated with the World Cup each time around.

"They're making this large tune and it is simply so loopy".

The tournament will begin in Russian Federation next month, although fans will likely have to wait to hear Will perform, as the official song is traditionally at the centre of the closing ceremony - which takes place ahead of the final. Jason Derulo and J Balvin also appear on promotional songs for this year's competition.
