Amidst Uncertainties, US-North Korea Singapore Meeting Not Canceled

Moon, who returned to Seoul earlier this week after a meeting with Trump, will announce details of the meeting with Kim on Sunday morning.

U.S. President Donald Trump said that the much anticipated meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un could still go ahead on June 12. "It was a very nice statement they put out".

The KCNA statement said Kim and Moon agreed to hold high-level talks between their two nations on June 1, and to take steps to quickly implement their efforts to denuclearise the peninsula. "You know that better than anybody".

The Japanese government is scrambling to gather information after the leaders of North and South Korea unexpectedly held a second summit just days after the cancellation of the June 12 summit between the US and North Korean leaders.

In a tweet, Mr Trump said the meeting could still take place on 12 June in Singapore "and if necessary will be extended beyond that date".

"We would like to make known to the U.S. side once again that we have the intent to sit with the USA side to solve problem (s) regardless of ways at any time", said Kim in comments published Friday by the country's state-run news agency KCNA.

The results of this week's parallel talks are likely to dictate whether the June 12 summit between Trump and Kim is possible, according to a USA official familiar with the ongoing deliberations.

Pictures released by the Blue House showed Moon also shaking hands with Kim's sister Kim Yo Jong, who has played a major public role in recent talks with the South, including leading a delegation across the border during February's Winter Olympics.

Graham relayed two possible solutions: a diplomatic one, working alongside China, to peacefully get North Korea to give up its program, or, if North Korea insists on having a nuclear capability, "we use military action which would be the total destruction of the regime". "It will happen!" Trump said in the same tweet. His tweet Sunday afternoon, which offered praise for the longtime US adversary, was the latest signal that his concerns about the North's stance toward the summit had been allayed.

"This is the first time that a South Korean leader has crossed over into the North for substantial talks in 11 years", he said.

The president added, "It will happen!" though his exact meaning was not clear.

The president said the North Koreans talk about their nuclear capabilities, "but ours are so massive and powerful that I pray to God they will never have to be used".

North Korea's vice foreign minister said his country remained open to resolving issues with Washington "regardless of ways, at any time, any format".

"It's nearly like they are supporting - they support MS 13, Hamas and now they're supporting the Chairman, Chairman Kim", he said.

Vladimir Putin says finding a solution to the North Korea nuclear tensions is of great importance to Russian Federation and says North Korea's sovereignty should be guaranteed. Mr. Kim ordered the complex to be finished by April 15, 2019 to mark the birthday of his late grandfather and North Korea founder Kim Il-sung.
