Meghan Markle Will Not Have a Maid of Honor, Palace Confirms

BREAKING NEWS

Meghan's mother Doria Ragland will travel with her daughter by vehicle to Windsor Castle and Thomas Markle will walk his daughter down the aisle during the ceremony.

It had been unclear for months whether Meghan's private dad would walk her down the aisle - or even attend the wedding at all.

In just over two weeks' time, Prince Harry and Ms. Meghan Markle will marry at Windsor - the sixteenth Royal Wedding to take place at the castle since 1863. Diana divorced Prince Charles in 1996 and tragically died in a vehicle crash in Paris, France at the age of 36 the following year.

Kensington Palace announced on Friday that details of who will be Meghan's bridesmaids will be kept a secret until the final week ahead of the wedding. "Mr. Markle will walk his daughter down the aisle of St George's Chapel", an update from Prince Harry's press secretary said.

In the letter, published by In Touch magazine, Mr Markle claims Meghan, 36, started out by "using her own father until he's bankrupt, then forgets about him in Mexico leaving him broke, over mostly all her debts". Ms Markle will not have a maid of honour.

During the ceremony, Lady Jane Fellowes, the older sister of Harry's late mother Princess Diana, will give a reading as a representative of his mother's Spencer side of the family.

A number of Markle's famous friends are believed to be invited to the wedding, including True Blood star Janina Gavankar, tennis pro Serena Williams and Quantico actress Priyanka Chopra, who confirmed her attendance in April. Many are interested in witnessing the royal wedding, and the couple just can not afford to say "yes" to every one of them.

Harry is also "keen" to involve his mother's side of the family at his wedding.

Though her parents released a joint statement saying they were "incredibly happy" about the engagement news, other family members weren't so convinced.

It's not clear what roles if any Ms. Markle's siblings will have at the wedding or if they have been invited.

Similarly, Prince Harry has made sure that his late mother's family will play a significant part in proceedings as a way of "celebrating the memory" of Diana, Princess of Wales. We expect the journey into the Castle to take them along part of the Long Walk, allowing members of the public gathered there to see the auto as it passes.

More than 5000 members of the British and global media will also be in Windsor on the day. When it ends, the newly-married couple will greet the 200 representatives of Prince Harry's charities.
