Suarez: LaLiga Star Will Be Welcomed At Barca

Antoine Griezmann of Atletico Madrid during the UEFA Europa League Semi Final second leg match between Atletico Madrid and Arsenal FC at Estadio Wanda Metropolitano

When reports emerged in January that the Spanish champions had already agreed to a deal with the 27-year-old Griezmann, Barca strongly denied them.

Barca's apparent pursuit of Griezmann prompted Atletico to complain to Federation Internationale de Football Association over improper conduct in December, though the Camp Nou side denied their claims.

Barcelona players celebrate with fans after the match.

Bartomeu told radio station RAC1: "We are analysing the season and we will see what we will do with ins and outs". Messi helped me win Golden Shoes and I am helping him do the same.

The club's president, Enrique Cerezo, is optimistic and said this week that he believes the forward will still be at the club next season. "I met with his agent last October, but there was nothing to it".

While it would likely rankle with Barcelona supporters were he to fulfil that childhood ambition given he has since represented the Blaugrana, it might at least be more palatable than if he had left the club directly for their bitter rivals, as Luis Figo infamously did in 2000.

Suarez, who is set to play for Barcelona in the Clasico clash against Real Madrid later today, has suggested that the Atletico star will make the move to Camp Nou in the summer.

Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo scores their first goal.

Striker Luis Suarez said the France forward, who has a €100m release clause, would be welcome and Bartomeu confirmed meeting with his agent a year ago. "When they sent off Sergi Roberto, I suffered a bit thinking about the second half, but then we went on to have a great game".

Barcelona have enjoyed a superb 2017-18 campaign, winning La Liga and the Copa del Rey.
