Instagram now lets users soundtrack stories with thousands of licensed tracks

You can now put music on Instagram Stories

Instagram is adding a feature which allows users to implement soundtracks in Stories. You can also filter by mood and genre, or search for a specific song. Tracks can be previewed before they're added; Once chosen, you can fast forward or rewind so the tune starts at the moment you choose. There's no mention of how many tracks there are to choose from, or how they're sourced, but more will be added on a daily basis, so there should be plenty to choose from.

The process of adding music on to your stories is quite simple and similar to Instagram's sticker feature. When you open the camera to actually take the video, all you have to do is hit the music tab under the record button, look for a song and the part you want, and then record the video!

Instagram went on to explain what users will see when viewing stories: "When your friends are watching your story, they'll hear the song playing as they're viewing your photo or video". The ability to choose a song before capturing video is now iOS only.

Another day, another new feature addition to Instagram.

Once you select a song, you can preview it to make sure it's the flawless song for your 'gram's story.

The song will become available as a sticker, much like GIFs or locations are added on Stories now.

Mashable are reporting that the new feature will be rolling out on iOS and Android from today (Thursday 28 June), so all you may need to do is update the app on your phone, and you're set! Additionally, the feature is now only in select countries.

The feature will enable users to add a soundtrack to their photo or video on Instagram Stories, which is now used by more than 400 million people daily.
