Putin heads to Beijing for state visit with birthday buddy Xi Jinping

Putin teases new arms Lasers & hypersonic missiles in service but ‘that’s not all

President Donald Trump said Friday he thinks Russian Federation should be reinstated into the Group of Seven, the industrialized countries whose leaders are meeting in Canada this weekend.

But the US President recommended Russian Federation be re-invited into the club, insisting Moscow should have a seat at the table.

Russian Federation was removed from the summit in 2014 after its forced annexation of Crimea away from Ukraine.

While he's taken a tougher stance on traditional US allies, Trump - who remains under investigation as part of an inquiry into potential collusion between his presidential campaign and the Kremlin - has charted a warmer course with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Trump plans an early exit from the G-7 meeting in his first visit to Canada as president. His new tariffs - 25 percent on imported steel and 10 percent on aluminum from Canada, Mexico and the European Union - threaten to drive up prices for American consumers and companies and heighten uncertainty for businesses and investors around the globe.

The tone in the immediate run-up to the meetings at La Malbaie showed no sign of compromise between a USA president determined to disrupt the status quo to force more favourable terms for the United States, and six U.S. allies resolved to stop him.

China-Russia partnership is a paradigm for today's state-to-state relations, and coordination between the two countries serves as a key factor in maintaining the world's strategic balance and stability, said the joint statement.

Mrs Merkel said it was too soon to say whether leaders would issue a common communique at the summit because the leaders had not yet addressed trade and climate.

And he warned it was now the United States, and not "usual suspects" such as Russian Federation, which posed the biggest threat to the current, Western-led worldwide order.

He warned it is "evident" that Mr Trump and the rest of the G7 were at loggerheads over trade, climate change and the Iran nuclear deal. Think the United Nations, the World Bank and the Group of 20, which brings together leaders of the world's biggest economies.

French President Emmanuel Macron, who met Trump as well, tweeted: "Pursuing the conversation".

Trump insisted the Canada-U.S. relationship is as good or better than it has ever been, and he even quipped that there might be a way the badly divided G7 could reach a consensus in their final communique on Saturday.

Trump made the comment at the White House Friday after hours of further escalating his rhetoric against longtime USA allies over trade practices.

President Donald Trump and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe shakes hands during a news conference in the Rose Garden of the White House in Washington, June 7, 2018. "The American President may not mind being isolated, but neither do we mind signing a 6 country agreement if need be", he tweeted.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is hosting the world's most powerful countries at the two-day summit in La Malbaie, in Quebec's Charlevoix region.

Donald Trump, feeling short of allies among his country's closest friends, called for Vladimir Putin to be let back into the G7 club.

Previous year at the G7 summit in Italy, Trump and his officials balked at some of the language relating to global efforts to address climate change - the leaders could not produce a consensus statement that Trump would sign - a move that foreshadowed his eventual withdrawal from the Paris climate change accord a week later.
