ESPYs host Danica Patrick falls flat in opening monologue

The 36-year-old race vehicle driver hosted the 2018 ESPY Awards on Wednesday night - making history as the first female host ever - where the two also made their red carpet debut as a couple.

"I'm the biggest Packers fan", Patrick told Kimmel, according to the Chicago Tribune. The annual host honored the past year's best athletes and moments.

As for the reaction on social media.well, it wasn't particularly kind to Danica.

Patrick, the first woman to win an IndyCar race, had simple advice for people who look up to her: know what you love.

First, she joked about LeBron James' hairline.

They have also enjoyed a few couples trips together, including visiting Mexico, Africa and India, where they met the Dalai Lama.

On Thursday, Patrick was the host of the ESPYs, and she was the star of a parody of the movie, "I, Tonya". Every year, I leave feeling so inspired!

Patrick's boyfriend, Aaron Rodgers, makes an appearance in this film, too.

Patrick soldiered on, telling the audience, "We have to mention the elephant in the room". Patrick said, listening to his advice. "I'd say we're even. JR Smith would say, 'We're up by one!'"

In reference to last season's NFL players kneeling in protest, Patrick said, "It's time to talk about the national anthem controversy".

Browns rookie Baker Mayfield won the award for the Best College Athlete.
