Roy Moore Threatens to Sue Sacha Baron Cohen Over Provocative Showtime Series

Former Sheriff Joe Arpaio says he is among the political figures duped by British comedian Sacha Baron Cohen during interviews for his upcoming Showtime series.

"Out of respect for what I was led to believe would be a thoughtful discussion with someone who had served in uniform, I sat through a long "interview" full of Hollywoodism's disrespect and sarcasm", Palin wrote on Facebook, adding that she flew to Washington, D.C., from Alaska to meet someone whom she believed was a disabled USA veteran.

News anchor Ted Koppel told the Hollywood Reporter Wednesday that he had been interviewed by Cohen disguised as a wheelchair-bound right-wing blogger.

With Cohen's new show premiering on Showtime this Sunday called Who is America?

Showtime sets Sacha Baron Cohen's TV return with 'Who Is America?' In the past few days, several politicians have come forward to say they were pranked by Cohen for his show into thinking their meetings were real interviews.

Who Is America? premieres Sunday at 10 p.m. ET on Showtime.

"CBS/Showtime: want me to share more about the unethical and perverted deception you've perpetrated on the public?"

"If they do a good job, maybe I'll send them a thank-you note", Arpaio said.

Palin took to Facebook earlier this week to reveal she was tricked into sitting down with Cohen's alter ego. He also told Breitbart he believed the 2017 interview with Cohen was live, being watched by 2 million people, although he was never expressly told that.

'They had given us fake names as to producers and anybody involved in the show, so nobody has taken me up on my offer for them to donate the proceeds from this show to veterans organizations that truly support and respect our vets, ' said Palin.

Baron Cohen's stunts have landed him in court before, and Moore is threatening to file a lawsuit depending on how "Who Is America?" portrays him.

"You read a line like that and, you know, man this guy, he just doesn't quit", Palin said, referencing Cohen's characters line about "bone spurs".

Cohen, she added, is a "proven liar" so nobody can believe what he said or his website. She said she was especially incensed that he had posed as a disabled military vet.

"I think there's enough skepticism to go around about people who actually are reporters, who actually are documentarians".

"If people tune into this show, then they're going to see how middle-class Americans are mocked and our values are mocked", she continued.
