Trump Accuses Google of Suppressing Positive News About His Presidency

'They have it rigged': Trump accuses Google of bias, prompting White House investigation

In two tweets in the early hours of Tuesday morning, Trump moaned that "Google search results for "Trump news" shows only the viewing/reporting of fake new media".

Trump gave only once specific example, saying "Fake CNN is prominent". And if there aren't many conservative sources surfacing, which is not the case, that's likely because conservative media tends to publish false content.

In fact, the dreaded Amazon-owned Post, another frequent target of the president's Twitter ire, was among the results in a Google search for "Trump news" by 9:30 a.m. PT on Tuesday.

At first, we made a decision to test this by punching "Trump News" into Google Search and the first story on top came from the only source of news that Trump likes, FOX News.

That 96 percent figure came directly from PJ Media's supervising editor, Paula Bolyard. Otherwise, with some exceptions like The Daily Mail and the New York Post, the list of organizations on the right is mostly populated by small outlets that do little original reporting, and even by outright conspiratorial sites like InfoWars and The New American, a site run by the fringe John Birch Society.

"We're just gonna do some investigations, some analysis, that's what we do", he said.

Google said Tuesday that when users search for content, "our goal is to make sure they receive the most relevant answers in a matter of seconds".

They are also expected to be questioned about how Russians were able to use their various platforms to influence the 2016 election and what measures they are taking to safeguard the upcoming midterm contests. Using different laptops, she performed multiple Google News searches for the word "Trump", and found pervasive bias in favor of left-leaning news outlets.

Google has said it would appeal the fine.

Earlier this summer, the new Republican chair of the Federal Trade Commission, Joseph Simons, said the agency would keep a close eye on big tech companies that dominate the internet.

"Every one of us is sort of like a newspaper...you have Twitter, you have whatever you have, Facebook, but everyone you can't have censorship". The president has used the platform to accuse technology companies of political bias.

Watch the Fox interview with Diamond and Silk below. "Twitter Chief Executive Jack Dorsey and Facebook Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg are among those confirmed to be attending the hearings", the report said.

He accused Google of being behind this because it is biased against conservative media outlets and controls what the public "can and cannot see".

This isn't the first time in the past several weeks the president has blasted tech firms for a bias against conservative voices.
