Ariana Grande Responds to Mac Miller's Tragic Death

Ariana Grande has broken her silence following the sudden death of Mac Miller, her ex-boyfriend of two years.

Miller, who had recently released his album Swimming, died on Friday (September 7) after an apparent overdose.

The image marked Ariana's first public response to his passing, and came hours after she disabled the ability for followers to comment on her posts, having been inundated with hurtful messages from his upset fans.

Grande, who dated Miller for nearly two years, has taken to Instagram to share a black-and-white photo of Miller (below), and while there's no caption on the post, her grief is evident.

The American rapper and singer, who forged a successful career as a performer and record producer, dated fellow singer Ariana Grande for two years, however back in May this year, the duo announced they had split. And the loss has clearly devastated his family, including mom Karen Meyers, who posted a loving tribute to her son Saturday on Instagram.

"He was a bright light in this world for his family, friends and fans", the statement read.

Ariana Grande is thinking about Mac Miller.

In May, shortly after their breakup, Miller crashed his vehicle and was charged with driving under the influence. Substance abuse is something the USA musician had openly struggled with in the past, and his recent album, Swimming, features poignant lyrics about finding himself. He told reporters: "I wrote that love song before I saw her". They split up in the spring of this year, but the singer said she remained on good terms with her ex.

Sometimes, guilt can keep relationships together far longer than actually being in love can. On his debut album "Blue Slide Park", which went to number one on the United States sales chart, he introduced himself: "I ain't no hipster / But girl I can make your hips stir". Rest in peace Mac. She is now engaged to SNL star Pete Davidson.
