Donald Trump insults reporter saying she’s ‘not thinking’, White House edits transcipt

Donald Trump Told a Female Reporter, 'You're Not Thinking, You Never Do'

Trump's press conference was frequently combative, with the president telling reporters that he considered them to be a wing of the Democratic party.

On Monday, we posted about President Donald Trump taking a swipe at ABC's Cecilia Vega with the headline: "Did Trump Insult ABC News Reporter Cecilia Vega and Tell Her She "Never" Thinks?" She hesitated a little, so Trump continued, "She's shocked that I picked her, she's in a state of shock".

"I'm sorry?" she responded, bewildered at the turn of conversation.

Vega: "I'm not. Thank you, Mr. President".

Vega, visibly taken aback, seemed to ask Trump to repeat what he'd said. He then declined to answer her question.

Vega used Twitter shortly afterwards to express her right to ask any question she desires, and cited the First Amendment.

The comment came during a Monday morning press conference, where the president also ranted more generally generally about the media - a group of people he has consistently cast in an adversarial light. "I don't mind answering the question, but, you know, I'd like to do the trade questions". "You never do", the president muttered.

Vega next attempted to ask a question about Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, and the president refused.

It was that feeling of antipathy that was captured by the cameras when Trump had a moment of tense confrontation with a female journalist during a press conference at the White House on 1 October.

"That joke doesn't work if everyone thinks Trump is a great president".

More: Trump swipes at Cory Booker over Kavanaugh. "You know what? You've had enough". "It's unfair to him at this point". Sure, that'd be quite a coincidence, touching up the transcript in such a way as to obscure Trump publicly belittling a woman reporter for no reason, but I can't definitely say whether this was an inadvertent error or a deliberate attempt at deception. "I'd be a mess".

Trump again lashed out at the media over their coverage of Kavanaugh and also referenced a Democratic senator in freakish threat: "I've seen that person in very, very bad situations, somewhat compromising".
