Megyn Kelly Fired From NBC

39;TODAY' Anchors Sound Off on Coworker Megyn Kelly's 'Blackface' Comments During Morning Broadcast

Her 9 a.m. show "Megyn Kelly Today" is ending, according to sources with knowledge of the matter.

An irony in light of Kelly's role in bringing down Roger Ailes: I don't think I've seen a single #MeToo malefactor fall as quickly as she apparently has for making one outre remark about wearing blackface on Halloween. "Because you do get in trouble if you are a white person who puts on blackface on Halloween, or a black person who puts on whiteface for Halloween".

"Back when I was a kid, that was OK just as long as you were dressing as a character", Kelly said.

On Wednesday it was reported that Kelly had fired her agent at Creative Artists Agency after rumours circulated that she might be moving on from her NBC daytime show.

On Thursday, the network pulled "Megyn Kelly Today", and ran a rerun of a show from August.

Political analysts have noted Kelly's career has been on a steady decline since she attacked then-candidate Donald Trump during the 2016 election.

Farrow recently accused NBC News of blocking his reporting on Weinstein, a charge that was denied by network chief Andy Lack.

They also point to other NBC talent that got a pass for insensitive comments, such as Joy Reid, who made homophobic comments in a blog before she started at MSNBC, but was never punished. Al Roker and Craig Melvin strongly criticized Kelly's comments during the 7 a.m. hour of "Today" on Wednesday.

Kelly, who is 47, grew up outside Albany, N.Y. The television news star returned to the matter a couple of times during the discussion, defending a white reality show star who was castigated for dressing as Diana Ross, replete with oversized Afro wig.

Kelly's co-hosts on the main Today show, who present between 7am and 9am before Kelly appears, were heavily critical of her comments. If anything, going home to Fox to grovel after failing at NBC would make her look worse. "She's doing a lot, she's doing a lot of different things".

The report notes that Kelly has been critical of NBC's handling of Farrow, with Kelly running a segment in September calling on the network to hire an outside firm to determine why it spiked his reporting on Weinstein.

"The fact is, she owes a bigger apology to folks of color around the county", he said. Kelly's decision to sit down with Jones received backlash and JPMorgan's chief marketing officer said she was "repulsed" that Kelly gave Jones airtime.

"It seems to me that maybe she has a target on her for some of those things that she said, which is kind of fascinating because NBC, as we know, talks to us constantly about the inequality of the sexes and how [bad] those conservatives are", Stu said.
