US Moving Military Forces and Equipment to the Southern Border

Honduran migrants climb a border fence in Tecun Uman Guatemala Friday Oct. 19 2018

US President Donald Trump had urged Mexico to prevent the caravan from reaching the border. "Gracias!" they yelled, but then "No, we're heading north!" The group was walking in broad daylight, far from the main caravan.

He asked who wanted a dialogue when they arrive in Mexico City, and a sea of hands shot up.

The announcement comes at the time when a caravan of Central Americans is making its way across Mexico towards the United States.

The group planned to set out early Monday for Niltepec, 54 kilometers (33 miles) to the northwest in Oaxaca state.

The U.N. refugee agency is urging Washington to allow people fleeing persecution and violence, including those who are traveling with the Central American caravan, to request asylum on USA territory. Nielsen called it a significant accomplishment to keep immigrants out.

On Friday, the caravan made its most ambitious single-day trek since the migrants crossed into the southern Mexican state of Chiapas a week ago, a 60-mile (100-kilometre) hike up the coast from Pijijiapan to the town of Arriaga.

Stoking fears about the caravan and illegal immigration to rally his Republican base, the president has insinuated that gang members and "Middle Easterners" are mixed in the group, though he later acknowledged there was no proof of that.

The US legally must hear asylum claims from migrants if they say they have a "credible fear" of violence in their home countries.

"As you know, the Mexicans with the assistance of the United Nations high Commissioner for refugees, suggested that the migrants from the caravan to the refugee status".

He tweeted Thursday that, "Democrat inspired laws make it tough for us to stop people at the border" and said he was using the military to respond to what he called a "National Emergency".

Defense Secretary James Mattis is expected to sign deployment orders that could send 800 or more troops to the border with Mexico to help border patrol authorities stop the caravan, according to three administration officials.

The migrants will be bussed to immigration processing centers for possible repatriation. These are young men and women who have no access to quality education and no hope of economic opportunity.

Sitting at the edge of the edge of the town square, 58-year-old Oscar Sosa of San Pedro Sula, Honduras concurred.

However, it now appears such smaller groups will be picked off by immigration authorities, keeping them from swelling the caravan's ranks.

Ms Landaverde said the family has received threats since her mother was killed in 2014.

Aside from Martinez, there are now a few other Salvadorans travelling north into Mexico with the massive crowd of mostly Hondurans.

Caldames says: "My blood pressure is bad". Members of the caravan ran through a village late Saturday night looking for the child. It says it's working with Mexican authorities to provide drinking water and hygiene products. Local first responders said that security forces used rubber bullets against the migrants, and that one person, Honduran Henry Adalid, 26, was killed.

A severely dehydrated woman connected to an IV line sat on a plastic chair in the gazebo.

A caravan of several thousand undocumented migrants from Central American is now making its way across Mexico and heading towards the United States.

Thus, the meaning of this plan is as follows: "migrants (those who need it) as soon as possible should gain legal refugee status and asylum, so they wouldn't have to make the risky trip to our border".
