YouTube back online after global outrage, company releases statement

Youtube, a video service of Google, is crashing.

YouTube is suffering a serious outage as thousands of users around the world are unable to access videos on the Google-owned service.

YouTube acknowledged the outage on Twitter and said it was working to fix the problem.

We will keep this story updated with more details as information becomes available. YouTube is yet to reveal the cause of this outage, though more updates can be expected soon.

You were not alone - YouTube was down from approximately 6 p.m.to around 7:20 p.m on Tuesday.

YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki also apologised but did not provide additional details for the outage: "YouTube is back", Wojcicki said in a tweet. (Supplied) Millions of users were met with a blank screen or "server error" messages when they try to access YouTube.

Emilio Medina (@emiliomedina) thought about what YouTube celebrities would do for income when the platform goes offline.

The site was restored at 11:38 a.m.by which time almost 5,000 tweets had inundated Twitter in Korea with a hashtag for "YouTube Server".

Currently, YouTube is one of the most visited websites on the internet. Well, after an hour of struggle, YouTube is back online and is thanking you all for the patience you kept during this outage!

Thousands of users set to Twitter, only to find that they were not alone. All these users were putting screenshots of YouTube on social media.
