Captain Marvel is expected to be released March 8, 2019.

Thanks to digital special effects, Fury actor Samuel L. Jackson is present as a younger version of himself too.

On Dec. 3, Marvel Studios posted the trailer on its YouTube account, giving readers a taste of Captain Marvel's background story. She has flashes of memories from the time before the Kree saved her, revived her and empowered her. Skrull commander Talos (Ben Mendelsohn) may be the primary target, but the Kree Empire may not like the Carol Danvers who comes back from Earth after completing the mission. It will also directly impact the events of Avengers 4.

Though Avengers 4 is now scheduled to arrive in Europe one week earlier than North America, it's easy to see from a marketing perspective why the studio would want the domestic and global schedules to be in sync, especially when you consider how spoiler-conscious Marvel is being these days. Her superhero avatar comes to the forth and then begins a rather interesting journey of past life and the current one. "Noble warrior heroes." Cut to a montage of Danvers' backstory, from being involved in a jet fighter accident and being infused with Kree blood, which has allowed her to "live longer, stronger, superior".

Danvers doesn't know the full story as to who she is.

"Something in my past is the key to all of this", she says.

But mostly, we're given a glimpse of just how incredibly powerful Captain Marvel is compared to pretty much everyone we've met before in the MCU, and that might include the Hulk and Thor.

In the realm of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it seems the Skrulls are nowhere to be seen in movies like Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers: Infinity War, suggesting the Kree-Skrull War ended sometime before the first Iron Man. Okay, Marvel Entertainment will likely drop the trailer at some point, but the fan-led anticipation for the first official trailer alone should show that the MCU's best type of promotion is sometimes no promo at all (at least not initially).

"I was trying different pieces on", Larson told ET in September.
